From the Ziska’s in Austria

Thank you for praying for my radiation treatments. I’m not feeling any particular side effects for which we’re praising God: actually, I’m able to function at a high pace which has been very enjoyable. When uncomfortable side effects come (probably in a few weeks), I’ll throttle back, but for now things are good and there’s lots to do. (E.g. every week we get visitors from the USA: the school year at the Evangelical Academy is just finishing; lots of projects are still not quite finished.)

Daniel is managing well with his current security job (until September) at a museum in the palace downtown. David has applied to return to college as of October. Both developments are good.

We’re really happy about the decision our people in Klosterneuburg made to have Sunday worship services twice a month starting in the fall. Thank God for their increased commitment to God’s work in Klosterneuburg.

Continue to pray for workers to help Brenda in the Sunday School.

Thank you again for all the special note and email assurances of your prayer support. It’s great working with a group of people like you as we serve God in Austria and look for the lost who haven’t found him yet. Have a nice relaxing summer!

Love in Christ,

Joe & Brenda

Text Box: Missionaries

From the Bean’s in Peru

Soon we’ll be in the Stated for a year! Even though most of the house is bare and empty, my computer is still up and running. So, let me fill you in on some praises. God is so good.

* Plaudits for new Quechua Course

The life of Christ course in Quechua was very well received. Once again, the leaders expressed their appreciation for a course that was well organized and full of content, in addition to being in a language that communicates better in their world. One of the men is the director of a rural Bible Institute. He has ideas about how to get these new courses out and in use. One is already lined up to be taught in July.

* Outstanding Senior Boy

Eric was honored with what we consider the best award ever. This award which comes with a scholarship  is based mostly on character as well as leadership, participation, academics and personality. The students and faculty chose Eric and we couldn’t be more proud of him.

* Dormant nerves wake up

The verdict is out: those long dormant ear nerves are waking up! Just Monday evening I got all the parts and can now be “on” at will. A single voice talking at random is overwhelming. But I could hear Mark over the internet with my new ear and pick out a few words.

        Prayer Requests

Ž Pray for Mark and the Old Testament team busy now through the end of the month. In order to meet their goals, they’ve got  a lot to get done. Pray that he will do his best and leave the results to God. Pray that there won’t be any delay on the road back to Lima. Immediately after Mark finishes the course he and I will both travel the States. We’ll be there for a year.

Ž Pray for the transition to the States, it is not automatic nor is it easy for our sons. Last time they were in the States for any time, they were in 8th grade and 6th grade. Before that, it was 1st and preschool at home!

This is an especially big transition since neither of  them will be returning to Latin America with us. Even though Mark and I have much more experience in the US, it is still a change for us too.

Ž Pray for jobs for both Eric and Ernie as well as getting ready for their respective new school years.

Ž Pray for healthy balance of visiting and encouraging supporters and friends as well as keeping on track with Old Testament translation.

Ž Pray for me to regain my equilibrium, begin a new hearing process here in Quito, plug in with a new audiologist team in Ohio, and faithfully work at learning to distinguish “sounds”.

Ž Pray for safe travel and Mark and I travel back to the States.
