KIRTLAND CHRISTIAN  FELLOWSHIP

We are a caring, Christ-centered church family where no one stands alone as we take risks together to connect people with Jesus!

Our goal is to become a family of committed  believers who are growing in love, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and service in order to reach the world for Jesus Christ!

Pastor's CornerOctober 2007

Greetings to the AMAZING KCF church family!

On September 16th KCF took a bold step deeper into the harvest.  Pastor Skip began his first day “on the job” as our High School Outreach Pastor to Mentor High School.  He is already hard at work building our partnership with Youth for Christ, making contacts with other churches in order to build a Kingdom ministry at MHS, connecting with faculty and staff at the school, but most importantly he is connecting with students.  Please take the time to welcome Skip and Ashley, pray for the KCF outreach to MHS, and ask the Lord what your role might be in this important ministry in the harvest field!

Did you know that the Church has a motto that was given to us by God?  One Sunday night at our youth service, I shared a message about the Shema, which is a Hebrew word that means Hear.

The Shema, the motto of the Jewish people, is straight from Deuteronomy 6:4...

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.  Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

The statement in this verse is the basic confession of faith in Judaism. The verse means that the Lord (Yahweh) is totally unique. He alone is God.   The Shema brought a focus to the priority in life for the follower of Yahweh—to love God!

When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He quoted the Shema.  By doing this Jesus shifted the Shema from a motto for Judaism to a motto for all His followers..  He also added a part B, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

For me the “simplified” motto of the Christian faith is “Love God, Love others.”

We know from studying the Bible and the example of Jesus, that God is love, love comes from God, and God’s love in us is meant to nourish others!  The Apostle Paul said it this way, “...If I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

 1 Corinthians 13:2 (NIV)

I believe that as this church family journeys  through our days with the words of the Shema on our minds, in our hearts, and demonstrated by our actions,  God will use us to connect others to Him, and we will “see mountains move!”

With the Love of Jesus,
