Where No One Stands Alone

Painesville, OH

Historic Painesville, OH is the County seat of Lake County. It's courthouse (above) was built in 1840, the same year Lake County was formed.

Painesville sits on the Grand River, 30 miles up the Lake Erie shore east of Cleveland. It was incorporated in 1832 and was named after General Edward Paine (1746-1841), one of the early settlers of the Western Reserve.

In 1840 Lake County was created from portions of Geauga and Cuyahoga Counties and Painesville was made the county seat. A court house was erected that same year. In 1852 the Town of Painesville became a village and in 1902 the village became the City of Painesville.

Today, in the greater Painesville area you can enjoy gazebo concerts, the Lake Erie College Morley Music Hall, the historical society and the Morley Library, all existing to address the most demanding cultural needs.

And when it comes to recreation, the Kiwanis Recreation Park (the City's largest park at 75 acres), is located next to the scenic Grand River which offers great fishing opportunities. You can also view the Grand River from the 1/2 mile long Riverwalk. Amenities to the park include 9 ball diamonds used by 7 different leagues as well as the City Schools varsity and junior varsity programs and Lake Erie College. The park has a basketball court, 2 tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, fishing pond, skatepark, two playground areas, a three reservable shelters.

Again, many members of Kirtland Christian Fellowship make their home in Painesville and reach out to this community to offer their support for local needs and services.
