AN ANGEL OVER ME
December 22, 1989 was a cold, day for northeastern Ohio. I was not looking forward to leaving for work. John, my husband, had started my car up earlier so it would be warmed up before I left the apartment.
My car seemed to be acting all right, but as I turned the corner of our street I noticed that my oil light was lit on my dashboard. I thought, surely I can drive to work and have no problem, but on the other hand, if I get stuck on Route 6 in this cold weather, this may be a problem.
I decided to circle around Chardon square and see exactly what the problem was. As I made the turn, just past the square, my car stalled. I started it but it stalled again. This time I could not get it started. I thought, oh boy, I'm all alone, what am I going to do!
Before I could even finish that thought, a young man who was directly behind me, came to help. He ran across the street to the gas station and purchased some dry gas and got my car started. I was freezing by this time and he wanted me to get into his warm car while mine began to warm up. I thought this was not a good idea. What if this guy is a creep or something. I didn't want to freeze to death, so I prayed, "Lord, you're going to have to protect me because I am going to freeze to death if I don't get in that car."
I opened his car door and I immediately heard Bob Divine from WCRF on his radio. I knew it was safe to get in his car. When the young man returned to the car, the first thing I told him was, "You must be a Christian." He looked startled but said, "yeah". His name was Mike and he handed me his car phone to call in to my boss that I'd be late. I decided to go home and put oil in my car. Mike followed me to make sure I'd make it.
God really took care of me that blustery, cold day. I know God has blessed Mike for helping me the way he did. God sent an angel to watch over me. This encouraged my faith!
