A DREAM COME TRUE

John and I made plans to build our home and hoped to be residing there near our second wedding anniversary. The dream came true and God did something before our very eyes.

Before we began to build our home, John received an updated plat of our cul-de-sac and surrounding properties. In looking at the plat, he realized that the plat was wrong in it's dimensions. Also, the cul-de-sac was termed "temporary". After some investigation with the county, we realized that our street could be extended beyond the cul-de-sac. This would mean that our house could possible be on the corner of a street so to speak.

This really outraged us! John had purchased the land because we would be at the end of a cul-de-sac. After more investigation we decided to petition the county. All of the land owners in the development signed our petition stating that we wanted a revised and correct plat indicating that our street was to end at a permanent cul-de-sac.

After many months of work, our petition and arguments came up before the county at a hearing scheduled before the county commissioners. We had corresponded with the three commissioners previously and knew that two out of the three of them agreed with us, but they would all have to agree to revise the plat.

That night, before John and I left our apartment for the hearing, we totally gave our property and future home over the Lord. We specifically prayed that if any of the commissioners did not agree with us that the Lord would change his or her mind.

At the meeting, many of our neighbors voiced their opinions in favor of us. Everyone agreed that they purchased land on our street with the idea that it would be a cul-de-sac street with no through road. After much discussion, Edna Davis, the one commissioner who was against us, had this to say, "One half hour ago I would have voted your proposal down, but after hearing all of these arguments, and for the fact that the dimensions on the original plat were wrong to begin with, I have to agree with the landowners." I felt the hair on my head begin to stand up. God really made a way for us this time! John was later interviewed by the newspaper and we celebrated a real Victory that night!

God wanted us to build our home. He wanted to show us that he could work it all out too. God will make a way!
