THE EASON'S GET A HOME
God is so good in all the little everyday situations that it seems unfair to always go back to the big events. But these are the things that stick in my mind, and these are the things that people tend to notice.
In 1985, Don decided that we had outgrown our two bedroom home in Willoughby Hills. This is the story of how God enabled the Eason's to buy a fabulous home in Kirtland. Probably not remarkable to anyone but us, but then we know us; God has to work with personalities as well as situations.
My dear husband is a very quiet man who doesn't like to be pressured by sales people. So when he decided it was time to buy a larger home, he decided to go to the Sunday open houses listed in the paper and thereby avoid Realtors that might try to pressure him. It got to be a Sunday afternoon event, driving around looking for houses.
During this time, which turned out to be more than a year, I prayed. I didn't know quite what to pray, so I kept asking that the Lord decide if we should sell or not. I figured we could add on if that was God's will. But Sunday after Sunday after Sunday, house after house after house, was beginning to get to me. Don's persistence and constant willingness to look was amazing. It got to the point that Rusty (who was 5 years old) would cry whenever Daddy slowed the car and say, "I don't want to go in"!
Because we had looked for so long, I had really gotten to know the area and could pretty well tell you the current price of any home that happened to be an the market. I was at my rope's end. I remember telling Don I was ready to settle for any chicken coop he would agree to. I'd had it. He laughingly said his plan had worked, and now was the time to show me the "farm". But he was only teasing.
It was time for my prayers to change. I still asked the Lord to decide if we should move or stay BUT you've got to let me know which it is going to be. I can't take any more looking and looking and looking.
Our house had been for sale on and off for more than a year. Within two weeks of my new prayer, "Tell me which, Lord, move or stay?" we sold our home. Our Realtor (now how did God get Don to list with a Realtor?) called me and said, before we go to look at the offer on your home, let's stop and see a new listing in Kirtland. It sounds just like for which you are looking.
We bought our new home and sold our old one all in the same evening. And what a wonderful Realtor the Lord picked for Don. When he was unresponsive, she'd tell him the kinds of choices available. God made such a perfect blend of personalities and situations.
It's been three years now, and I still am amazed at the lovely home for which God has provided. With a year's worth of research, I know that it is truly a miracle that we have this lovely home. Praise the Lord
