THE ANSWER CAME AFTER DEATH
On August 4, 1981, we were in my father's hospital room. My father had a stroke and his leg had been amputated. He was paralyzed and couldn't talk, but he could move his right arm. So this time, when we were ready to leave, saying good-bye was different. My mother, my sisters and I knew dad was trying to tell us something -with his eyes and his hands. He kept making movements with his hand, rubbing his eyes. He held my mother's hand on his chest. We kept asking dad, "What's wrong? Does your head hurt?" He shook his head - "No". He put his hand to his eyes, rubbing them. We asked "Dad, do your eyes hurt?" He shook his head -"No".
When shaking our hand, he held each of us longer than before giving a little squeeze. After the handshake, we left puzzled as to what he was trying to tell us.
As soon as we were home, the hospital called. "Pops" was gone to be with the Lord. "O Lord, help us. What was he trying to tell us?" was our prayer. We know that he was home to be with the Lord to see Jesus. We weren't too upset about that, but what did he want to tell us?
Each of us went to different rooms to ask God to show us what dad (called ''Pops" most of the time) was trying to tell us. He's gone now - there is no way for us to know except by the Holy Spirit.
After some time, my sister Carlean came running downstairs with a big smile on her face waving some papers in her hand, saying, "I've got it. God's Holy Spirit has given me the answer in this poem. This is what dad was trying to say."

"Pops Last Good-Bye"
He said farewell before he left, although there was no sound
He told us not to worry, because he was heaven bound -
He lifted his feeble hand, and gently wiped his eyes -
In his own way, he was telling us, there's no need to cry.
He called his wife to his side, and bid her good-bye -
And with his eyes he said, "I'll meet you over yonder, in
heaven beyond the sky". . .
He took her by the hand, and placed it on his chest.
As to say - "I love you dear, but my body is weak, my soul
is tired, and I must take my rest", . .
He stretched out his arm, and gently squeezed our hands -
Saying, I hope to see you all "my loved ones" over in the
promise land,
Then he closed his eyes and peacefully went to sleep.
And in Glory he'll awaken, where we shall all meet.
His train was waiting, so he joyfully stepped on board
As he said to us "Look to the hills" yet he never said a word.
"Good-bye Pop, take your rest -
we all loved you, but God loved you best".
