A NOTE OF PRAISE

Dear Hugh and Friends,

I want to thank you all for the prayers you raised during Jenna's recent heart surgery. Those prayers supported us and sustained us through many anxious hours prior to surgery, during, and after.

I don't understand why Jenna wasn't miraculously healed, and why the Lord chose to allow her to go through such an ordeal after all the other things she has endured during her 9 years, but one thing I do know is that the Lord doesn't make any mistakes. His power and presence was felt and seen in many ways during our hospital stay.

Before surgery I asked for prayer that we'd all endure this additional stress coming so shortly after my father's sudden death. We all did endure. We prayed that Jenna would be off the respirator before we saw her in intensive care. She was off before she left the operating room.

We prayed that the doctors wouldn't have to break any bones. They were able to separate her ribs far enough to do the entire open heart procedure. We prayed that she would not have any side effects, specifically pneumonia. She did get a touch of it, but never got sick with it. The doctors gave her an antibiotic and that was that. Our God is great!

When we went back for her 6 week check up, which was only 5 weeks after, the doctor examined her and found a perfect sounding heart and a perfect EKG, which he said was outstanding for 6 weeks after surgery, I reminded him it was only 5 weeks, and he wrote superb on all her records. When God is in something, He doesn't do half a job, but He goes even beyond the necessary.

When my strength was zapped after 3 nights of only a couple hours of sleep, the girl sharing the room with Jenna was suddenly transferred to another room - and we had a private room the rest of our stay. (This was only hours after I prayed for rest.)

To top everything off, when Jenna and I pulled out of the parking lot after her check up, we went through a toll booth we had gone through many times, but this time, the man gave our money back and handed Jenna a tract that said "Jesus Loves You". I think that said it all.

I promised the Lord that when all this was over, He would get the honor and glory. With all the energies you put into praying for Jenna, I ask you to please put even more into prayers of praise and thanksgiving for God's goodness and faithfulness, His use of doctors, and His unfailing presence and healing. I feel He deserves thanks and praise a million times over.

Love in Him
