A Wonderful Heritage

I do not claim this as a miracle, this is a blessing and a wonderful heritage.

This took place in the Summer of 1953. I must give you a wee bit of background about my mother. Elsie Moore. Mother had come from my hometown in Betherda, Ohio, to live with my husband, Wilbur, and me.

I had just finished a year of teaching in June when mother became ill with leukemia. I cared for her as best as I could while she was with us for three years. At that time, our doctor came to the house daily for several weeks to give her a B12 shot. Then he decided we could give her the shot and it would not be so expensive, so we did. When she could no longer come to the table to eat, I gave her food in bed. After a while she was on a liquid diet of only milk every hour and cream every two hours. Naturally, she worsened, and did not speak any more.

On the morning of her last, she had not spoken to me for two days. I could see she was going. I called my husband to get up, as it was near 5 A.M. We stayed with her and near 7 A.M. she raised her body, looked at me and said, "My Lord, Jesus". As she went through the "valley of death", she closed her eyes and was gone. I'm positive He met her.

Haven't I a wonderful heritage?
