A PRAYER AND A PROMISE

Our first miracle happened with our oldest son. He fell when he was two years old and had brain damage. We started taking him to Cleveland Clinic to find a cure for him. After many, many tests, the doctors told us there was nothing they could do. He experienced very bad seizures and was at the clinic as much as he was at home.

When he had a seizure, we would rush him to the hospital. They would give him medication, Phenobarbital and Dilantin all the time. He was now 10 years old and they were getting worse. The doctors suggested we consider an institution.

I had been going to church but I guess I was not a true believer, but I started praying for help. About a week later two deacons come to our home one evening to talk to me about the children coming to Sunday school. I said, I would love to bring them but with working a full time job and six kids to take care of, I was too tired to get them ready to go. We talked some more and I explained how sick Danny was. Before they left they prayed for us. I promised I would try to bring the kids the next Sunday. I felt a relief and almost happy to think of all the kids in church. What a good feeling. We started going every Sunday and I really loved it. I even started teaching Sunday School.

Two years passed and Danny's visits to the doctor almost stopped. He had been going twice a week and now sometimes it was a month and not one seizure. I had enrolled him in a special school and he was doing real well. I kept taking the kids to Sunday school and kept asking for prayer and kept praising God for his healing. His last prescription of Dilantin and Phenobarbital was from April 1963. The full bottles are still in the medicine cabinet. He is so healthy he no longer had to take the pills.

This was twenty-five years ago and he still does not take the medication. He is very healthy, and loves all sports. He bowls on two leagues and works a full time job. God is so faithful, praise his holy name!
