OUR DAILY BREAD

I have a particularly vivid memory of the miracle God accomplished in healing me on a Sunday in 1979. I had a cold, which had localized in my neck, and I was unable to move my neck that morning. The pain was so intense that I had to lift my head off the pillow with my hands as I got out of bed and I was very tempted to stay home from church. I had experienced this condition before and it had usually taken at least three or four days for the stiffness and pain to subside.

My wife and I did make it to church and after the service, the pastor's wife asked me if I would join with some people praying in the pastor's study for someone else. I did pray with the individual and after the prayer, I was asked if I too, would like prayer for the rather obvious sore neck which I had. I consented and was prayed for - then we drove home.

On the way home, my wife asked if I wanted to stop and get some liniment for my neck, but I decided not to do so since I felt a strong urge to trust God to heal the problem.

We were to attend a church picnic that afternoon. About noon, and I was sure it would not be exciting for me since. I would have to miss out on all the physical activities due to my neck. As we returned to the church picnic (within one hour of the time I was prayed for), God sovereignly healed my neck to the point that I was playing volleyball and pitching a football with NO pain in my neck. The reality of that gracious miracle by God will never leave me and will always be a reminder of his Divine care for me.
